The Festus Tigers will square off against the DeSoto Dragons at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Festus is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.1 runs per game this season.
On Friday, Festus needed a bit of extra time to put away Lutheran South. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Lancers 6-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Tigers have posted since April 13th.

Brayden Good made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Good was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with two doubles, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Cooper Schilly and Cale Schaumburg did most of the damage at the plate: Schilly went 2-for-3 with two runs and one triple, while Schaumburg got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run and one double. What's more, Schaumburg posted two hits, the most he's had since back in April. Another player making a difference was Jude Blattner, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.
Meanwhile, DeSoto waltzed into their matchup on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They walked away with a 5-1 victory over the Tigers.
Like Festus, DeSoto also got a great game from a two-way player: Austin Milton. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Milton also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because DeSoto is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 9-14 otherwise. Milton was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Milton wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Blake Coleman, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Coleman has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.
DeSoto's win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 12-14. As for Festus, their victory bumped their record up to 18-7.
DeSoto's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Festus has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .465. It's a different story for DeSoto, though, as they've only averaged .358.
