The Indian Land Warriors will head out on the road to take on the York Cougars at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Indian Land focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Tuesday.
Indian Land fought the good fight in their overtime match against Lancaster but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell to the Bruins 51-45. Indian Land has struggled against Lancaster recently, as their game on Tuesday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the defeat, Indian Land saw an underclassman step up: Emily Callahan scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and five steals. Callahan has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last 11 times she's played. Skylar Young was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
York suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Tuesday. They were beaten by South Pointe 90-8. While losing is never fun, York can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 198th, while South Pointe is ranked third).
Indian Land has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season. As for York, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-11.
Indian Land suffered a grim 38-18 defeat to York in their previous meeting back in January of 2023. Can Indian Land avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
