Jefferson and Martinsburg are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2019, but not for long. The Jefferson Cougars will head out on the road to square off against the Martinsburg Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Jefferson comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
On Monday, Jefferson ended up a good deal behind Spring Mills and lost 68-49. Jefferson has not had much luck with Spring Mills recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Meanwhile, Martinsburg beat East Hardy 55-42 on Monday. Given Martinsburg's advantage in MaxPreps' West Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 25th, while East Hardy is ranked 89th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Jefferson's loss was their fifth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 0-9. As for Martinsburg, their victory bumped their record up to 7-2.
Jefferson might still be hurting after the 50-25 defeat they got from Martinsburg in their previous matchup on January 2nd. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Martinsburg's Kaydance Bradley, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. Now that Jefferson knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
