Basketball Recap: Saint Francis Catholic Comes Up Short

Saint Francis Catholic lost against Countryside Christian back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Saint Francis Catholic Wolves fell 33-26 to the Countryside Christian Minutemen. While losing is never fun, the Wolves can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 554th, while the Minutemen are ranked 176th).

Despite the loss, Saint Francis Catholic still got an impressive performance from Allie Dey, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 13 boards. Dey is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last nine games she's played.

Even though they lost, Saint Francis Catholic smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in seven consecutive matches.

Saint Francis Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Countryside Christian, they pushed their record up to 6-1 with the win, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Saint Francis Catholic will venture away from home to face off against Cedar Key at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Countryside Christian, they will take on Branford at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
