The American Patriots won the last time they faced the Coral Park Rams, and things went their way on Wednesday too. American snuck past Coral Park with a 42-36 win.
American got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Karissa Perrier out in front who scored 15 points along with three steals. Perrier is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Lajahnique Olive, who scored 13 points along with three steals.
Despite the defeat, Coral Park had strong showings from Ivana Montoya, who scored six points along with five rebounds and five steals, and Gianella Carmenate, who scored eight points along with 11 rebounds. Carmenate continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Maya Vivas-Acevedo was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with two steals.
Even though they lost, Coral Park smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as American only pulled down seven offensive rebounds.
American is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. As for Coral Park, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-10.
American will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against North Miami Beach at 3:30 p.m. North Miami Beach's defense has only allowed 27.6 points per game this season, so American's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Coral Park, they will head out on the road to take on Sunset at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Sunset focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 35 on Thursday.
