Even though the Dawson Springs Panthers have not done well against the Hopkins County Central Storm recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Dawson Springs had just enough and edged Hopkins County Central out 70-68. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Leading Dawson Springs to victory were Jaybird Plunkette and Montgomery Johnston. Plunkette dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds, while Johnston scored 23 points along with six rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Deacon Dever, who scored 11 points.
The victory makes it two in a row for Dawson Springs and bumps their season record up to 11-8. As for Hopkins County Central, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-12.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Dawson Springs will take on Madisonville-North Hopkins at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Hopkins County Central, they will head out on the road to take on Caldwell County at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. The timing is sure in Caldwell County's favor as the team sits on five straight wins at home while Hopkins County Central has been banged up by ten consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.
