Huntington North's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ethan Zahn, who almost dropped a double-double with ten points and nine assists. Those nine assists gave Zahn a new career-high. Titus Schultz was another key player, going 6-for-12 to rack up 17 points.
Zahn wasn't the only one working in the assist department: Huntington North was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. They racked up six more assists than Fort Wayne Canterbury's also-impressive total of 13.
Kokomo has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 54-49 heartbreaker at the hands of Tippecanoe Valley.
Huntington North will need to focus on slowing down Zion Bellamy, one of several Kokomo players who made an impact when they last played. He went 6-for-12 en route to 18 points and four steals. The contest was Bellamy's fourth in a row with at least 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Baris Moore, who went 7-for-14 on his way to 14 points and three steals.
Kokomo's defeat dropped their record down to 15-7. As for Huntington North, their victory bumped their record up to 10-12.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Huntington North has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 25.3 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Kokomo struggles in that department as they've been averaging 28.5 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Huntington North was dealt a bruising 82-45 loss at the hands of Kokomo when the teams last played back in February of 2024. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Huntington North was down 46-26.
