Big North - Freedom recap December 3, 2013
Ridgewood extended the longest winning streak in Big North - Freedom this week by beating Paramus, 35-7. This was the team's 11th consecutive win.
Hackensack moved up to 145 from 171 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Comets climbed the ranks as a result of beating Teaneck 35-12.
Aaron Guzman was a passing and rushing force as Hackensack defeated the Highwaymen. Guzman's favorite target this week was Tommy Smith, who caught 2 passes for 20 yards.
Traverus Moore was the best receiver in the league this week as Passaic fell to Clifton. Moore tallied 1 reception for 50 yards. Daniel Delgado helped Passaic's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 49 yards.
Thanks to the talents of Jalen Wheeler and Guzman, Benjie Wimberly's team has been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Wheeler is tops in the league in passing with 1,110 yards, while Guzman has rushed for 1,321 yards this season. Ridgewood's Connor Van Caugherty leads the league in receiving yards with 508 on 14 catches.
Tim Bonanno of the Charles W. Johnson III's team is just 65 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 108 carries Bonanno has accumulated 935 yard this year.
The Maroons took down the Spartans 35-7 last week, the largest margin of any game. Jamal Locke threw for 71 yards and 2 touchdowns in the win.
