The Greater Nanticoke Area Trojans will head out on the road to square off against the Wilkes-Barre Wolfpack at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Greater Nanticoke Area took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They came out on top against Berwick by a score of 6-1. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Trojans as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.
Derek Miller was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in May of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one double and one RBI. That RBI marked the first that he brought in this season.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Wilkes-Barre and Crestwood meet (four straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Wednesday. The Wolfpack came out on top in a nail-biter against the Comets, sneaking past 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Wolfpack have posted since May 1, 2024.
Nathan Fritz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on James Bottger, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Koleton Davies, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
Wilkes-Barre's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-4. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.2 runs over those games. As for Greater Nanticoke Area, they picked up their first home victory, bumping their record up to 2-7.
Greater Nanticoke Area couldn't quite get it done against Wilkes-Barre in their previous meeting back in May of 2023 as they fell 5-0. Can the Trojans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
