The Lexington Minutemen's homestand continues as they prepare to take on the Fisher Bunnies at 6:00 p.m. on January 17th. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
Lexington lost a heartbreaker when they last took the court, but unfortunately for them the defeat they were handed on on Saturday was a bit more commanding. They suffered a tough 65-44 defeat at the hands of Fieldcrest. Lexington has not had much luck with Fieldcrest recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
Meanwhile, Fisher's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They received a tough blow as they fell 43-27 to Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley. While losing is never fun, Fisher can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 417th, while Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley is ranked 153rd).
Loss or not, Fisher got some senior leadership from Jenna Clemmons who scored four points along with eight rebounds and Melina Luyando who scored five points along with three steals.
Lexington bumped their record down to 9-13 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for Fisher, they now have a losing record at 10-11.
Lexington couldn't quite finish off Fisher when the teams last played back in November of 2022 and fell 49-47. Will Lexington have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
