The Brooks County Trojans fought the good fight in their overtime contest against the Cook Hornets on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell to the Hornets 61-55. Brooks County's defeat continues an unfortunate trend for the squad, making it three in a row.
Despite the loss, Brooks County still got an impressive performance from Kanilyn Jones, who almost dropped a double-double on 33 points and nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Anton Graham, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Cook's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Reshauld Tippins led the charge by scoring 11 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Ny'shaun Wallace, who scored 15 points along with three steals.
Brooks County has not been sharp recently as the team's lost nine of their last ten games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-15 record this season. As for Cook, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-10.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Brooks County will face off against the Raiders at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Bacon County is out to stop a four-game streak of losses at home. As for Cook, they will head out on the road to take on the Rams at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.
