While it was all tied up 19-19 at halftime, the Swink Lions were not quite the Las Animas Trojans's equal in the second half on Thursday. Swink fell just short of Las Animas by a score of 45-42. Swink was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Las Animas apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February.
Despite the loss, Swink still got an impressive performance from Hunter Bauserman, who scored 20 points. Bauserman scored a full 47.6% of Swink's points, the sixth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Nate Cabrera, who scored nine points along with four steals.
Swink struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Swink has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-3 record this season. As for Las Animas, their victory bumped their record up to 4-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Swink will challenge Kim/Branson at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Kim/Branson focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 last Saturday. Las Animas will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Hoehne at 3:00 p.m. on December 16th. Hopefully Hoehne focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 last Saturday.
