The Blue Ridge Fighting Tigers had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They enjoyed a cozy 70-54 victory over Daniel. Given Blue Ridge's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 25th, while Daniel is ranked 134th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Blue Ridge's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Anyah Henderson led the charge by scoring 21 points along with 8 assists and 8 steals. Henderson is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Helena danielle Earley, who scored 23 points.
Daniel's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Siena Mcintyre, who scored 9 points along with 8 rebounds and 3 steals. Lila Mann was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with 5 assists.
Even though they lost, Daniel were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Blue Ridge only pulled down ten.
Blue Ridge's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Daniel, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Blue Ridge won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Landrum at 6:00 p.m. on November 28th. Hopefully Landrum focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 last Tuesday. As for Daniel, they will be playing at home against Easley at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Easley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 31 on Thursday.
