The Beecher Buccaneers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 58-26 loss at the hands of Genesee. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Beecher of the 62-34 defeat they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2023.
Genesee found their leader in underclassman Averie Zinn, who almost dropped a triple-double on 33 points, nine rebounds, and 16 steals. That makes it ten consecutive games in which Zinn has scored at least a third of Genesee's points. Simpson Autumn was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Beecher's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Genesee, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Beecher won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against International Academy at 6:00 p.m. on January 17th. International Academy is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for Genesee, they will be playing at home against Bendle at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Michigan (Bendle is ranked 507th, while Genesee is ranked 529th).
