Mt. Diablo hasn't had much luck against Las Lomas recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Red Devils will be playing in front of their home fans against the Knights at 4:30 p.m. Mt. Meanwhile, Las Lomas waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They never let the Bears get on the board and left with a 12-0 win. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 25, 2024, but that streak is no more.
Lucy Bernhardt made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 15 over six innings pitched. Those 15 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one RBI.
In other batting news, Lexie Kou was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Paige Loeliger, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Las Lomas' victory bumped their record up to 12-7-1. As for Mt. Diablo, their loss dropped their record down to 4-14.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Mt. Diablo has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 6.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Las Lomas struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 6.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
