The Dunseith Dragons's eight-game losing streak came to an end on Thursday. They escaped with a win against St. John by the margin of a single free throw, 80-79. Dunseith's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Despite the loss, St. John still got an impressive performance from Cashmyn Belgarde, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and ten rebounds. Belgarde is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. Ezekiel Parisien was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds.
Dunseith's win ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-8. As for St. John, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-10 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Dunseith will take on South Prairie/Max at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for St. John, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against North Prairie co-op [Rolla/Rolette] at 7:00 p.m.
