The Gulf Pointe Latin Gladiators came into Friday's matchup having lost five straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They walked away with a 67-54 win over Aletheia Christian Academy on Friday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Gulf Pointe Latin also won the last time the pair played back in January.
Micah Crumpler was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 27 points and 17 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Will Luthin, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why Aletheia Christian Academy lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jude Burke. Despite the final result, he scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and five steals. It was the first time this season that Burke pulled down eight or more rebounds. Carsen Simmons was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
Aletheia Christian Academy struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Gulf Pointe Latin's victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-12. As for Aletheia Christian Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season.
Gulf Pointe Latin will face off against the at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Santa Rosa Christian is out to stop a eight-game streak of losses at home. Aletheia Christian Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
