AAAA Region VII recap Oct. 30, 2012
Goose Creek extended the longest winning streak in AAAA Region VII this week by beating West Ashley, 52-7. The victory was the 10th in a row for the Gators.
Goose Creek led the league in scoring this week after putting up 52 points on the Wildcats. Tramel Terry ran for 73 yards and caught three passes for 69 yards in the win.
Chuck Reedy's team's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. On the ground Caleb Kinlaw chipped in 94 yards. Kalan Ritchie helped Goose Creek's passing attack out by catching two balls for 38 yards.
Dantez Bennamon put up the best numbers through the air as the Gators bested West Ashley. He finished with a total of five completions for 90 yards and one touchdown.
Goose Creek's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Gators feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Bennamon has thrown for 832 yards and nine touchdowns this season, while Terry has 38 catches for 550 yards. Kinlaw leads the league in rushing with 876 yards.
The marquee game in AAAA Region VII this week will be the clash between Goose Creek and Stratford. The Gators enters the game ranked second in the state, while the Knights ranks eighth.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Goose Creek takes on Stratford. The Gators have allowed 102 points this season, while Ray Stackley's team has given up 150. Goose Creek allowed 7 points last week as it topped Robert Marion's team.
The Knights made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 333 from 465. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 33-14 victory over South Florence last week.
