The Northeast Metro RVT Knights's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They took a 69-62 hit to the loss column at the hands of Innovation Academy. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Loss or not, Northeast Metro RVT got some senior leadership from Chris Zullo who scored ten points along with six rebounds and three steals and Carmine D'Amelio who scored ten points. Those six rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Bobby Connolly, who scored six points.
Derrick Twum was his usual excellent self, scoring 29 points along with nine rebounds and five steals for Innovation Academy. That makes it five consecutive games in which Twum has scored at least 25% of Innovation Academy's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryce Kankam, who scored 14 points.
Northeast Metro RVT's loss dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Innovation Academy, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 4-3.
Northeast Metro RVT won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Greater Lawrence Tech at 5:30 p.m. on January 12th. As for Innovation Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Prospect Hill Academy at 12:45 p.m. on Saturday.
