The Anthony Wildcats suffered their biggest loss since November 21, 2023 on Tuesday. They were dealt a 62-29 loss at the hands of Fort Hancock. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Anthony in their matchups with Fort Hancock: they've now lost nine in a row.
Despite the loss, Anthony saw an underclassman step up: Angelee Guerro scored 23 points. That's the first time this season that Guerro scored 15 or more points. Aissa Castillo was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Alessandra Jimenez was her usual excellent self, dropping a triple-double on 28 points, 17 rebounds, and ten assists for Fort Hancock. That makes it six consecutive games in which Jimenez has scored at least a third of Fort Hancock's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackeline Arriaga, who scored 19 points along with five rebounds and five steals.
Anthony's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-11. As for Fort Hancock, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 16-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Anthony will take on Wink at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Wink focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 on Tuesday. As for Fort Hancock, they will be playing in front of their home fans against McCamey at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. McCamey has now lost nine straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 1.
