Weston Ranch is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Edison is on a six-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. The Cougars will welcome the Vikings at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Weston Ranch is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.1 runs per game this season.
On Thursday, Weston Ranch was able to grind out a solid win over Franklin, taking the game 10-7.
Treshia Garcia was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up five earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run and one double. That double marked the first that she has hit this season.
In other batting news, Baylee Santiago was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three stolen bases and four runs. She has been hot recently, having posted three or more stolen bases the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Anita Orona, who earned two RBI and one run.
Meanwhile, Edison hadn't done well against Bear Creek recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Vikings skirted past the Bruins 9-7.
Alicia Leiva spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered seven runs (all of which were unearned) on ten hits.
On the hitting side, Jamaiya Wilson and Lelia Tatupu did most of the damage at the plate: Wilson went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Tatupu went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Those three hits gave Wilson a new career-high. Jordin Escobar was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one run.
Weston Ranch's victory bumped their record up to 8-4. As for Edison, their win bumped their record up to 9-7.
Edison's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Tuesday. Weston Ranch has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.4 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Edison, though, as they've been averaging only 2.4 strikeouts. Will Weston Ranch keep running through batters, or will the Vikings buck the trend?
Weston Ranch suffered a grim 17-6 defeat to Edison when the teams last played back in April of 2025. Can the Cougars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
