The Oneida Express suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Friday. Their rough 98-77 loss to Rome Free Academy might stick with them for a while. Oneida has not had much luck with Rome Free Academy recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
Rome Free Academy found their leader in underclassman Surafia Norries, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and 12 assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Norries has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Uzziah Grimes, who scored 19 points along with nine rebounds.
Oneida's loss dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Rome Free Academy, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 11-1.
Oneida won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Indian River at 1:30 p.m. on January 20th. Indian River is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak. As for Rome Free Academy, they will be playing at home against Cicero-North Syracuse at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Cicero-North Syracuse's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
