After flying high against the Brackett Tigers on Friday, the Sabinal Yellowjackets came back down to earth. Sabinal fell 48-40 to Falls City on Tuesday. The contest was a 24-24 toss-up at halftime, but Sabinal was outscored by Falls City in the second.
Sabinal lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Joseph Contreras, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds and three blocks. The contest was Contreras' sixth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Tre Morgan, who scored nine points along with three steals.
It was another big night for Kain Jurgajtis, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 21 rebounds for Falls City. That's the first time this season that Jurgajtis scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brayden Scott, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds and five steals.
Sabinal now has a losing record at 8-9. As for Falls City, their victory bumped their record up to 5-8.
Sabinal will be playing in front of their home fans against Charlotte at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Charlotte is hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses. As for Falls City, they will head out on the road to face off against La Pryor at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. La Pryor is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
