Neshannock is a perfect 5-0 against South Side since September of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Lancers will host the Rams at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
South Side will face off against a team with plenty of momentum: Neshannock extended their winning streak to five on Friday. The Lancers took their contest with ease, bagging a 34-7 win over Burgettstown.
Neshannock's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Anthony Eakin, who rushed for 146 yards and one TD while picking up 8.1 yards per carry, and also picked up 40 receiving yards. Eakin was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 67 yards. Jino Mozzocio was another key player, rushing for 55 yards and a pair of scores.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Neshannock was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 304 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 176 rushing yards in five consecutive games.
Neshannock didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Joey Dimuccio and Brady Frasso.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask South Side). They breezed past Northgate to the tune of 63-13 on Friday. The victory continues a trend for the Rams in their matchups with the Flames: they've now won four in a row.
Neshannock better keep an eye on Andrew Corfield. He was instrumental in South Side's win, rushing for 131 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries. Corfield's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 108 rushing yards. Another player making a difference was Thorn Johnson, who rushed for 33 yards and a pair of TDs.
South Side's win bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Neshannock, their victory bumped their record up to 5-1.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Neshannock has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 251.3 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like South Side struggles in that department as they've been averaging 290.3 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Neshannock skirted past South Side 21-19 when the teams last played back in October of 2024. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Corfield, who rushed for 121 yards and one score on only 13 carries. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will the Lancers still be able to contain Corfield? There's only one way to find out.
