After a string of three wins, the BASIS - Scottsdale Bulldogs's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell 55-43 to BASIS - Chandler. BASIS - Scottsdale was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bobcats apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
BASIS - Scottsdale's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nithish Prakash, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds. Prakash has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last six times he's played. Another player making a difference was Jacob Shamoun, who scored 11 points.
BASIS - Chandler found their leader in underclassman Kalan Karuppana, who scored 20 points along with four steals. Karuppana is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 16 or more in the last four games he's played. Mathew Akpan was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 11 points and 13 rebounds.
BASIS - Scottsdale's defeat dropped their record down to 4-10. As for BASIS - Chandler, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. BASIS - Scottsdale and the Eagles will face off at 5:30 p.m. on January 29th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Eduprize presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Bulldogs in Arizona (the Eagles are ranked 22nd, while the Bulldogs are ranked 173rd). As for BASIS - Chandler, they will stay at home for another game and welcome the Heroes at 6:00 p.m. on January 30th. Heritage Academy is no doubt hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
