Archbishop Ryan will bounce into Monday's match after beating Germantown Academy, who they had gone 0-3 against in their three prior meetings. The Raiders and Ragdolls skirted past the Patriots 5-3.
Jack Rock spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits.
At the plate, Victor Corniel and Dave Perez did most of the damage at the plate: Corniel went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI, while Perez went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Father Judge hit Lansdale Catholic with a five-run fifth inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. Lansdale Catholic came up short against Father Judge, falling 11-5. The loss continues a trend for Lansdale Catholic in their meetings with Father Judge: they've now lost four in a row.
Ben Holdsworth and Eddy Schlotter did some serious damage despite the final result: Holdsworth went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double, while Schlotter went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Holdsworth has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Taylor Mcketa also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.
Archbishop Ryan pushed their record up to 12-6 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Lansdale Catholic, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-10.
Lansdale Catholic's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Monday. Archbishop Ryan has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.9 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Lansdale Catholic, though, as they've been averaging only 4.1 strikeouts. Will Archbishop Ryan keep running through batters, or will the Crusaders buck the trend?
