It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Broomfield Eagles had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They strolled past Fruita Monument with points to spare, taking the game 30-14. Winning may never get old, but Broomfield sure are getting used to it with their seventh in a row.
Broomfield's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from CT Worley, who rushed for 59 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries. Another player making a difference was Brent Harris, who rushed for 77 yards and a touchdown on only six carries.
Broomfield's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. Caleb Meehan was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two sacks himself.
Broomfield's victory was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-2. It's not like the team was facing easy opposition over that stretch either, as it included 12-2 Loveland and 8-3 Dakota Ridge (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 57% over those games). As for Fruita Monument, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-4.
Broomfield will face off against Mesa Ridge at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Colorado (Mesa Ridge is ranked 30th, while Broomfield is ranked 20th). Fruita Monument does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
