Heritage recap October 22, 2013
Penns Manor extended the longest winning streak in Heritage this week by beating Purchase Line, 28-15. This was the team's eighth consecutive win.
United lost to Blairsville 34-14 last week, the largest margin of any game. Tyler Oliver was a bright spot for the Lions, as he ran for 115 yards in the defeat.
Scott Fennell threw for 234 yards and 3 touchdowns. He went 15-33 with 3 interceptions.
Derek Baker was the most successful running back in the league this week. He ran for 166 yards on 18 carries as Northern Cambria lost to Homer-Center. Teammate Joe Frontino added to the ground attack by rushing for 131 yards.
The Rams' Fennell and Bloom have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-1 quarterback Fennell has thrown for 1,418 yards this season, while Bloom has 45 catches for 830 yards. Penns Manor's Lucas Kowalski leads the league in rushing yards with 841.
The top two teams in Heritage will face off this week when first place Penns Manor takes on second place Homer-Center. Bill Packer's team beat the Red Dragons last week, while the Wildcats topped Ligonier Valley.
The Comets' offense has recorded 273 points this season, making them No. 1 in the league, while Homer-Center has permitted only 89 on the year.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Penns Manor takes on Greg Page's team. The Comets have allowed 95 points this season, while the Wildcats have given up 89. Penns Manor allowed 15 points last week as it bested Purchase Line.
Homer-Center led the league in scoring this week after putting up 40 points on Roger Beitel's team.
