It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Mountain Empire Redhawks ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They walked away with a 58-51 victory over Health Sciences. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Mountain Empire.
Corey Vann was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 35 points and 11 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Andrew Sepulveda was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 15 rebounds.
Mountain Empire pushed their record up to 10-5 with that win, which was their third straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.0 points per game. As for Health Sciences, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mountain Empire won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Bayfront Charter at 4:00 p.m. on January 19th. Bayfront Charter is coming into the contest hot, having won their last three games. As for Health Sciences, they will head out on the road to challenge School for Entrepreneurship & Technology at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
