The Seneca Golden Eagles will square off against the Delran Bears at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Seneca 3.7, Delran 2.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Seneca is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 19-9 margin over Camden County Vo-Tech on Monday. The Golden Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by eight runs or more this season.
Chloe Carter made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Carter was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Piper Worrell was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Emily Buddendorf was another key player, going 2-for-5 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one triple.
Seneca kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 22 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Delran had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Monday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 7-6 W against the Scotties. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Bears have posted since May 20, 2025.
Mary Masterson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and one unearned) runs on 11 hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Delran let Arianna Martinez and Gemma DeJoseph run wild. Martinez got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three RBI and one double, while DeJoseph went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. DeJoseph is on a roll when it comes to RBI, as she's now brought in three or more in each of the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Danielle Gorman, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
Seneca's victory bumped their record up to 12-5. As for Delran, their win bumped their record up to 17-3.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Seneca hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .350. However, it's not like Delran struggles in that department as they've averaged .388. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
