Baseball Recap: Union Catholic Beats Bayonne for Their Third Straight Victory

Union Catholic had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. Everything went their way against the Bayonne Bees as they made off with a 12-5 victory.

Union Catholic got a massive performance out of Greg Viloria, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave Viloria a new career-high. Brayden Morrison was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.

Union Catholic was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .344 or higher in three consecutive matches.

Union Catholic's record now sits at 10-4. As for Bayonne, they dropped their record down to 5-6 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Union Catholic will face off against Elizabeth at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Minutemen's pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so the Vikings' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Bayonne, they will take on Nutley at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
