Basketball Game Preview: Sheridan Blackhawks vs. Tri-Central Trojans

The Sheridan Blackhawks will face off against the Tri-Central Trojans at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Sheridan is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Parke Heritage just ended the team's seven-game winning streak on Saturday. They took a 66-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wolves. While losing is never fun, the Blackhawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 156th, while the Wolves are ranked 28th).

Despite their defeat, Sheridan saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Caleb Wright, who went 7 of 15 en route to 17 points, was perhaps the best of all. Wright is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games he's played. Another player making a difference was Damon Winston, who went 5 of 8 en route to 12 points and six rebounds.

Meanwhile, it was close, but on Saturday Tri-Central sidestepped Daleville for a 55-53 win.

Tri-Central has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.8 points per game. As for Sheridan, their loss dropped their record down to 8-2.

Sheridan was able to grind out a solid victory over Tri-Central in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, winning 64-57. Will Sheridan repeat their success, or does Tri-Central have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
