The Weber Warriors are taking a road trip to take on the Farmington Phoenix at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Weber is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season.
While Weber's victory against Layton wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Warriors narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Lancers 10-8. The Warriors haven't had any issues with the Lancers recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.
Aliya Rhees was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and one stolen base. Gabby Montgomery was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 3-for-4.
Weber was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .350 or higher in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Farmington unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Tuesday. They lost 17-9 to Fremont. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Farmington got a massive performance out of Kiley Gazafy, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That home run was Gazafy's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooklyn Wright, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and three runs.
Farmington's defeat dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Weber, their win bumped their record up to 3-6.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. Weber hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.7 home runs per game. However, it's not like Farmington struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.7 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Weber took their victory against Farmington in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 20-10 score. Will the Warriors repeat their success, or do the Phoenix have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
