Johnson County is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Unicoi County is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Johnson County Longhorns will take on the Unicoi County Blue Devils at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
Johnson County can now show off four landslide victories after their most recent contest on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 43-6 win over Holston at home. Johnson County pushed the score to 36-6 by the end of the third, a deficit Holston had little chance of recovering from.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Johnson County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Connor Simcox, who threw for 236 yards and two touchdowns while completing 76.9% of his passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Juan Mejia, who rushed for 104 yards and three touchdowns on only 12 carries.
Meanwhile, Unicoi County sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 47-45 win over Chuckey-Doak on Thursday.
Their wins lifted both teams to an identical 6-3.
Johnson County might still be hurting after the 24-0 loss they got from Unicoi County in their previous matchup back in October of 2022. Will Johnson County have more luck at home instead of on the road?
