Softball Recap: Clio Sets Scoring Season-High Against Goodrich

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Clio). Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Goodrich Martians a 10-0 shutout on Thursday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Mustangs needed considering they were shut out in their previous match.

Clio let Samantha Rinks and Kelcy Sperling run wild. Rinks went 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI, while Sperling went 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Payton Malin, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs.

Clio always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .516. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The win got Clio back to even at 3-3. As for Goodrich, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 5-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Clio will take on Brighton at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Mustangs are facing the Bulldogs at the right time seeing as the Bulldogs are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Goodrich, they will welcome Rockford at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
