The Saint Viator Lions will square off against the Marian Catholic Spartans at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Saint Viator will be strutting in after a win while Marian Catholic will be coming in after a defeat.
Saint Viator not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 12th (when they won 8-1). They were the clear victors by an 8-2 margin over St. Patrick.
Hunter Mills spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on six hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Brandon Thomsen, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. He has become a key player for Saint Viator: the team is undefeated when he posts at least three hits, but 7-12 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Brock Harer, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Saint Viator lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Marian Catholic came up short against Manteno on Friday and fell 12-7. The Spartans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Jazarris Mackmore was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one double. Jonathan Trotter was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Marian Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 10-16. As for Saint Viator, their victory bumped their record up to 10-12.
Saint Viator took their win against Marian Catholic in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 7-1 score. Will the Lions repeat their success, or do the Spartans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
