The Arvin Bears had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They strolled past Woodlake with points to spare on Wednesday, taking the game 56-41.
Arvin found their leader in underclassman Xzavier Pierson-Brooks, who scored 19 points. Another player making a difference was Miguel Damian, who scored ten points.
Woodlake lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Hugo Cruz, who scored 14 points. Cruz scored a full 34.1% of Woodlake's points, the eighth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Joseph Avilez, who scored 12 points.
Arvin's victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-8. As for Woodlake, their defeat was their fourth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 2-9.
Arvin will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Farmersville at 8:00 p.m. on December 28th. Farmersville comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Woodlake, they will be playing at home against Orange Cove at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
