Softball Recap: Yelm Wins Going Away Against Spanaway Lake

Yelm never let their opponents score on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Spanaway Lake Sentinels with a sharp 10-0 win. The Tornados haven't had any issues with the Sentinels recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Aaliyah Gaul was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Gaul was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other pitching news, Leticea Romo looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Bailey Mounts, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three RBI and one stolen base. Kamden Verone was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Yelm hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in three consecutive games.

The win got Yelm back to even at 8-8. As for Spanaway Lake, they dropped their record down to 1-16-1 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Yelm will square off against rival Bonney Lake at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Spanaway Lake is set to face off against their familiar foe Graham-Kapowsin at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
