Providence Day is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of North Carolina's top teams: Cannon, who was ranked fifth at the time (Providence Day was ranked 19th). Providence Day sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 42-40 victory over Cannon on Friday. That's two games straight that the Chargers have won by exactly two points.

Providence Day relied on the efforts of Ginny Anne Dumont, who posted 16 points and six boards, and Ellie Fyans, who scored eight points and six rebounds. Dumont has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last eight times she's played. Marlo Stuart also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.
Meanwhile, Charlotte Latin beat Charlotte Country Day School 56-45 on Tuesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Hawks.
Charlotte Latin's win came from a few key players Providence Day will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Charlotte Tune, who went 8 for 13 on her way to 22 points and five steals. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 15.3 points per game. Another player making a difference was Wallace Roberts, who put up six points in addition to eight rebounds and five assists.
Providence Day pushed their record up to 22-7 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.3 points per game. As for Charlotte Latin, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Providence Day has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 28.1 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Charlotte Latin struggles in that department as they've been averaging 26.2 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
