Baseball Recap: James Monroe Now 6-2 over Last Eight Games

James Monroe's game on Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They never let the Midland Trail Patriots get on the board and left with a 16-0 victory. With that win, the Mavericks brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.

Kadyn Hines made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in 12 consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four runs, and three RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brycen Parker, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one double. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Carson Koen was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

James Monroe kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Midland Trail didn't got any hits.

James Monroe is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-12 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. As for Midland Trail, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 13 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-16 record this season.

Midland Trail will challenge Shady Spring at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. James Monroe will be paying especially close attention to the Patriots' matchup: after the Patriots face off against the Tigers, they'll take on James Monroe again at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
