While Royal put up plenty of runs on Saturday, the same can't be said for Meridian. The Knights blew past the Trojans 13-0. The Knights might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by seven runs or more this season.
Jill Allred made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 13 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That stolen base was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Michelle Woodward was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Those two hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Emerson Eilers, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.
Royal's victory bumped their record up to 11-3. As for Meridian, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Royal will venture away from home to challenge Kiona-Benton at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Meridian, they will head out to face off against Mount Vernon at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Bulldogs will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something the Trojans surely won't give up without a fight.
