Fairview has gone 9-1 against North East recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Tigers will square off against the Grape Pickers at 4:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Fairview 2, North East 2.3) so any runs scored will be well earned.
If Fairview beats North East with six runs on Wednesday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. The Tigers came out on top against Corry by a score of 6-2 on Monday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Tigers.
Vinny Campoli was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Campoli was even better at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run and four RBI.

Campoli wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Caleb Szklenski, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4. Szklenski is becoming a predictor of Fairview's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 1-2 when he doesn't).
Meanwhile, North East strolled into their game on Tuesday with a perfect record and they left with the same. Everything went their way against Girard as they made off with a 6-0 win. While the Grape Pickers didn't have the best season last year (they finished 4-12), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Like Fairview, North East also got a great game from a two-way player: Jerek Turlij. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 16 over seven innings pitched. Turlij has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Colton Owens, who scored two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Braydon Cornman, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
North East pushed their record up to 9-0 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Fairview, their record is now 4-2.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Fairview has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 12.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like North East struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 14.9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Fairview took their win against North East in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 12-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
