Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for The Santa Ynez Pirates, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They were the victim of a tough 42-21 defeat at the hands of Kennedy on Friday.
Despite the loss, Santa Ynez still got an impressive performance from Vince Casey, who picked up 208 receiving yards. Casey's longest reception was for an incredible 71 yards.
Jace Demacabalin was his usual excellent self, rushing for 151 yards and three touchdowns. Demacabalin is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in the last 11 games he's played. Kennedy also got a significant boost from Damian Flores, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 85 yards.
Santa Ynez has been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season. As for Kennedy, their victory bumped their record up to 9-2.
Santa Ynez does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Kennedy will be playing at home against Kerman at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Kerman will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
