Durham School of the Arts hasn't had much luck against Hillside recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Durham School of the Arts Bulldogs will head out on the road to square off against the Hillside Hornets at 6:00 p.m. Durham School of the Arts will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
On Friday, everything went Durham School of the Arts' way against Vance County as Durham School of the Arts made off with a 17-3 win. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won three games by 14 runs or more so far this season.
Michael Matuszewski made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. Matuszewski was also big at the plate, scoring three runs.
In other batting news, Mars Hartmann was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. Christopher Matuszewski was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.
Durham School of the Arts hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most four strikeouts in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 11 runs the game before, Hillside was a bit more limited in their match on Tuesday. They fell 7-2 to Enloe. The Hornets haven't had much luck with the Eagles recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.
Hillside saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Quamay Palmer, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI. That double marked the first that Palmer hit this season. Another was Sterling Edwards, who scored a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
Durham School of the Arts' record now sits at 4-2. As for Hillside, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.
Durham School of the Arts suffered a grim 17-3 defeat to Hillside in their previous meeting two weeks ago. Can Durham School of the Arts avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
