The Bandys Trojans were the 53-35 winner over the Maiden Blue Devils when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The game between the two teams wasn't particularly close, with Bandys falling 59-44.
When it comes to explaining why Bandys lost on Friday, one person who can't be blamed is Rachel Anderson. Despite the final result, she scored 16 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Lexi Vaughan was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Maiden found their leader in underclassman Khiara Culliver, who dropped a triple-double on 28 points, 17 rebounds, and ten blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Culliver has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Willow Bass, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds.
Bandys' defeat dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Maiden, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-7.
Bandys will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Newton-Conover at 6:30 p.m. Hopefully Newton-Conover focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 on Friday. Maiden on the road again on Tuesday and play against Bunker Hill at 6:00 p.m. on January 16th. Bunker Hill is coming into the matchup on a six-game losing streak.
