Ryle is 8-2 against Cooper since May of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Raiders will be playing at home against the Jaguars at 2:00 p.m. Ryle is coming into the game on a six-game losing streak.
Thursday just wasn't the day for Ryle's offense. They lost 10-0 to Highlands on Thursday. Raiders fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Bluebirds since Thursday.
Meanwhile, Cooper owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Thursday. They walked away with a 5-0 win over Notre Dame Academy. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Jaguars.
Desiree Mack was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Mack was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, two doubles, and one run. That's the most doubles she has posted over her last seven contests.
In other pitching news, Lily Spraker tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, Ainsley Scroggie was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Taylor Nevels, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.
Cooper's victory bumped their record up to 20-10-1. As for Ryle, their loss dropped their record down to 21-13.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Saturday. Ryle hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.6 home runs per game. However, it's not like Cooper struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.5 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Ryle came out on top in a nail-biter against Cooper in their previous meeting back in April, sneaking past 7-6. Will the Raiders repeat their success, or do the Jaguars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
