Basketball Game Preview: Arcanum Trojans vs. Northmont Thunderbolts

The Arcanum Trojans will square off against the Northmont Thunderbolts at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Arcanum has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.

Arcanum is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Franklin Monroe: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Arcanum blew Franklin Monroe out of the water with a 63-28 final score. With the Trojans ahead 38-12 at the half, the game was all but over already.

Lexy Gibbons was her usual excellent self, putting up 18 points. The match was her fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Caroline Long, who posted eight points along with eight rebounds and four steals.

Arcanum smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in eight consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Northmont played a tough game on Saturday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by Fairmont and fell 78-20. The Thunderbolts were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 55-9.

Arcanum has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.3 points per game. As for Northmont, they dropped their record down to 2-16 with the defeat, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season.
