The Leeton Bulldogs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They received a tough blow as they fell 60-44 to Wellington-Napoleon. Leeton was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Wellington-Napoleon apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
Wellington-Napoleon was led to victory by Maddox Blystone and Jackson Waterworth. Blystone scored 13 points along with eight rebounds, while Waterworth scored 16 points along with five rebounds. That's the first time this season that Waterworth scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Trotter Hughes, who scored 13 points.
Leeton bumped their record down to 5-10 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for Wellington-Napoleon, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-8.
Leeton will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Prairie Home at 7:30 p.m. on January 31st. Wellington-Napoleon will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Lawson at 7:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Hopefully Lawson focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 two weeks ago.
