Northgate is 6-0 against Ygnacio Valley since January of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Monday. The Northgate Broncos will head out on the road to face off against the Ygnacio Valley Wolves at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in Northgate's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last seven matches.
Even though Concord scored an imposing 61 points on Friday, Northgate still came out on top. Northgate took down Concord 78-61. Given Northgate's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 148th, while Concord is ranked 1013th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Northgate relied on the efforts of Jake Andjus, who scored 16 points along with three steals, and David Harris, who scored 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Daniel Louie, who scored 12 points.
Meanwhile, Ygnacio Valley can now show off nine landslide victories after their most recent contest on Friday. They took their matchup on the road with ease, bagging a 66-39 victory over Clayton Valley Charter. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Ygnacio Valley has posted since December 21, 2023.
Ygnacio Valley got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Antonio Kellogg Jr out in front who scored 21 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Kellogg Jr has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last seven times he's played. Another player making a difference was Jalan Cody, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Northgate is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. As for Ygnacio Valley, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-5.
Monday's game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Andjus and Kellogg Jr. Andjus has been dynamite this season: he has averaged 14.5 points, 1.8 steals, and 2.5 assists. For his part, Kellogg Jr has averaged 18.7 points and 2.6 steals.
Keep an eye on the arc in Monday's matchup: Northgate have been dynamite from deep this season, having drained 45.7% of their threes per game. It's a different story for Ygnacio Valley, though, as they've only nailed 23.5% of their threes per game this season. Given Northgate's sizeable advantage in that area, Ygnacio Valley will need to find a way to close that gap.
