Mountain View has won five straight games at home, while Uintah has won five straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Thursday. The Bruins will welcome the Utes at 3:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
On Tuesday, Mountain View made easy work of Provo and carried off a 16-1 victory.
Lucy Clark made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Mountain View let Saralynn Hair and Ashlyn Johnson run wild. Hair went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Johnson went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most doubles Johnson has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Sophie Stoddard, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
Mountain View was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .682. They are 13-3 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Uintah got the win against Timpanogos on Tuesday by a conclusive 16-1.
Like Mountain View, Uintah also got a great game from a two-way player: Lynlie Hall. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and not a single walk). Hall was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run and two runs.
In other batting news, Addysen Hall and Leena Sharp did most of the damage at the plate: Addysen went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI, while Sharp went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Londyn Reary was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Mountain View's win bumped their record up to 14-9. As for Uintah, their victory bumped their record up to 16-2-1.
Thursday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Mountain View has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .535. However, it's not like Uintah struggles in that department as they've averaged .510. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Mountain View suffered a grim 12-2 defeat to Uintah when the teams last played two weeks ago. Will the Bruins have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
